Ive been in many arguments on this website before but Ill just post my position and leave it be. I believe I speak for the majority of Israelis which is 70% secular.
1) I oppose the settlements and that two-faced Bibi's government.
2) While the settlements are a problem it is not the reason for conflict.
3) Before 67 there were NO settlements and yet the Arabs attempted to destroy Israel in what would be genocidal wars twice. (48 and 67).
4) Without foreign occupation, Israel would be over 3,000 years old. (Byzantines, Romans, Ottoman).
5) We left Gaza completely in 2005 - uprooted all settlers and settlements and in exchange we got Hamas and rockets.
6) Hamas' charter calls for the destruction of Israel and yet the UN refuses to force a change. However, blaming Israel for everything is ok.
7) The name Palestine comes from the roman word palestina - this was reference the extinct adriatic people known as the philistines who were enemies of Jewish Israel. The Romans named it as such to humiliate the Jews after the failure of the bar-kochva revolt in 132AD. Most Jews were killed or expelled (hence the beginning of the European diaspora). THis is why palestinians, who are mostly good people, cannot pronounce it correctly, They say falestin as opposed to Palestin.
8) It is tough to negotiate with a neighbor who is dedicated to destruction but stopping the settlements can only help peace.

I would put it in the multiples, yeah.
The Muslim world was always going to have a problem with the west being so far more advanced than them. Unfortunately for the Jews, they decided to get in the middle of the oncoming ruck. They therefore get shit for being in the middle east and get shit for being culturally western.

Of course not. But we expect different standards from Israel. Perhaps the fact is we expect too much. The original western European Jews aren't in the driving seat anymore and a far less 'western' bloc is.

Does anybody (apart from Annie Lennox fans) even bother taking any notice of the UN anymore?
I gave up on them years ago when I realised they had been taken over by the loonies.
I watched raid on Entebbe the other night, and happened to google a few things about it. Turns out the UN wanted to issue a FATWA (sorry, resolution) against Israel for that one too.
